Temper Tantrums

Here is another parenting tip that falls into the weird stories category. My daughter and I were in the library and she was excited about getting a book about hedgehogs. Well, the book wasn’t available and she was very upset. It looked like she was about to start a temper tantrum, so I sat down on the floor in the library, grimaced my face, shook my arms in the air, and opened my mouth wide.

She sat next to me and asked, “What are you doing, Mama?”

I told her I was having a temper tantrum, but since it was the library, I had to do it quietly.

She said, “You’re embarrassing me.”

And I said, “Well, this is what a temper tantrum looks like and if you don’t want me to have one in front of you, I would appreciate it if you didn’t have one in front of me.”

Hand to my heart, pinky promise, this is the truth; she never did.
